It offers apprentices the opportunity to gain the skills and experience needed to equip them to work in our accommodation services and within the sector. It is also another way we aim to involve clients in our work and improve and develop our recovery-focused services. Since we started the scheme in 2008 the percentage of staff working for us who have a lived experience of homelessness has risen from 1% to 7.5 % and we're keen for this figure to keep growing!
The Apprenticeship Scheme is open to anyone based in London who has personally experienced homelessness. We recruit to it annually and it comprises a paid 12 month work placement (normally in one of our accommodation projects) as well as a comprehensive training programme.
To succeed on the scheme, you will need passion and commitment, empathy towards homeless people, basic administration skills (including good literacy and numeracy skills) and a willingness to learn and work hard, and in return you should 'graduate' with a Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care qualification.

We're delighted to announce that we'll be opening up recruitment in June for the next intake of the Apprenticeship Scheme, which is due to start in October 2012. More information will be available about this shortly, so please check back regularly.
