St Mungo's health strategy
Many homeless people turn to alcohol and drugs to cope with physical and mental health problems. St Mungo's recognised this and launched a new health strategy in 2008.
We piloted a range of new initiatives:
- Each hostel has staff specifically responsible for clients' health problems
- Significantly improved access to health professionals, including GPs and nurses
- We made an impact in the political arena, making the Government take notice
