Senate HouseSt Mungo's is delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to abseil down one of the London's most iconic buildings. An imposing Art Deco structre, built in 1937, Senate House housed the Ministry of Information during World War II and inspired George Orwell's description of the Ministry of Truth in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.  It has been in various TV shows such as Dr Who, Jeeves and Wooster and recently in the final episode of Black Mirror, as well as films such as The Dark Knight.

No prior experience is necessary to take part as you receive all your training and abseiling kit on the day. We will also have a photographer to capture the moment you start your descent. Do invite your friends and family to cheer you on and capture the moment you land firmly back on the ground!

All abseilers will receive:

  • Information about St Mungo's and the work we do
  • Fundraising pack full of fundraising ideas
  • Regular contact from the fundraising team, who are here to help on the phone or by email!
  • Opportunity to visit a St Mungo's project to see the frontline work we do
  • St Mungo's t-shirt upon reaching your fundraising target
  • A fantastic sense of achievement when you've completed your abseil*

Over the last four years we have had over 500 abseilers successfully abseil down Senate House, raising over £120,000 to help homeless people. Thank you to all those who took part, volunteered and supported these fantastic events.  You can see some pictures from our 2016 event here

Please note: The abseil is available to participants aged 16 and over.

The providers for the day will be Big Bang Productions who have many years experience of running these types of events and will provide training and a safety briefing on the day.
