Needs and Risk Assessment Training
Course outline
Aim
To enable participants to consider how the needs and risks of clients can be assessed in ways which are client centred, promote recovery, reduce the risk of harm, meet the needs and risk assessment standards set by Supporting People and comply with best practice.
Outcomes
By the end of the session participants:
- Are able to ensure that clients, staff, the project and the public are protected from harm
- Are able to ensure the assessment of risk is carried out when needed
- Are able to ensure that despite being involved in behaviour, which could cause harm, the client is perceived as an individual with specific needs
- Will have reviewed St Mungo's procedures and documentation related to needs and risk assessment
- Decide which of the standards of the QAF support planning are hardest to implement and evidence, and explored ways of meeting these standards
- Will have had the opportunities to reflect on and share good practice
- Will have identified two or more things that they are going to do to improve the needs and risk assessments of clients.
Approach
The half and full days will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
