Assessment and Support Planning

Course outline

Aim

For participants to understand the process and requirements for assessing the needs and risks with clients and how these comply with St Mungo's procedures and the Quality Assessment Framework (QAF), and result in SMARTER planning.

Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will have:

  • considered 'what is the role of a key worker'
  • practised the skills of assessing risks and clients needs through the use of case studies based on real situations
  • know when an assessment of risk should be carried out
  • considered the importance of a clients aspirations and strengths in the recovery process
  • considered their practice in relation to the Assessment and Support Planning core objective from the QAF
  • practised using the relationship circle and Path tools
  • reviewed the other documents related to key working
  • will have considered their communication with clients (Transactional Analysis)
  • will understand how the St Mungo's Key Working procedure applies to their practice
  • and will be able to write client support plans that are SMARTER.

Approach

The half and full days will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
