Safeguarding and Protecting Adults and Children from Abuse

Course outline

Aim

To provide participants with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the Safeguarding and Protecting from abuse of adults and children.

A practical introductory course for all staff working with vulnerable adults. This course will give you the skills to create and maintain a safe organisation.

Course Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Be able to define what vulnerable adult and child at risk is
  • Be able to define what adult and child abuse is
  • Understand the importance of values and attitudes in responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Have critiqued St Mungo's procedures relating to safeguarding children and adults
  • Have considered indicators for the seven types of abuse
  • Know how the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) relates to their work
  • Have reviewed if and how they are able to meet and evidence the safeguarding and protection from abuse QAF core objective
  • Know what their responsibilities are in relation to safeguarding adults and children

Approach

The half day will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
