Sainsbury's IT Division Supports re-settlement programme
The IT Division at Sainsbury's Store Support Centre, Holborn, has a Community Focus Group (ITCFG), and they have been working with St Mungo's for about 18 months to look at opportunities for supporting locally in Holborn. This led to the Home Starter kit idea for clients. In conjunction with 2 project workers, Tracy Jacob and Anthony Cooper, the ITCFG have put together 2 Home Starter kits.
These items included - Duvet, duvet covers, tin opener, coffee, tea bags, light bulbs, mattress protectors, towels, clock, cutlery, toilet cleaner, colander, iron and ironing board. In total about £400 per kit.
Sainsbury's IT colleagues delivered the latest one of these on 28th November 2008 which was gratefully received by St Mungo's. Amongst the Sainsbury's IT colleagues was the IT and Change Board director, Angela Morrison, who takes a keen interest in the activities of the ITCFG. Angela said she was pleased at the positive difference Sainsbury's could make to the local community and was impressed by what she had seen during her visit to the shelter.
The ITCFG looks to continue supporting St Mungo's and has already begun to put together the next Home Starter kit.
