Client Involvement Training (for Staff and Clients)
Background to the Training
All operational staff must be committed to the organisational ethos of involving clients in decision making about services and their recovery. This training aims to create a consistent approach and culture of involvement across all services. The training will remove barriers or fears that may prevent involvement, give participants confidence and practical ways to involve clients in their service.
Aims
The session provides participants with a clear understanding of the principles of client involvement and how to practically apply these to their work.
Course Outline
By the end of the training participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the definition and ethos of client involvement
- Identify and describe solutions to: fears and barriers that may prevent involvement
- Understand how and why we involve clients
- Motivate and inspire their clients to be involved
- Apply new strategies to their service to enhance their client involvement
- Understand the importance of client involvement to funders/ policy makers.
Approach
The day will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
