In Parliament
Our parliamentary activity is an important element in our wider campaigning work.
We aim to influence the views of politicians of all parties on the issues which affect homeless men and women. St Mungo's would like to see parliamentarians champion the needs of one of the most vulnerable and excluded groups in our society and suggest the following goals:
- Introduce a legal right to shelter
- Provide more supported housing options for people recovering from homelessness
- Tackle the health needs of rough sleepers first
- Ensure an integrated approach to homelessness across Government and services
- Recognise and support the role of work and meaningful occupation as part of recovery from homelessness

Our Public Affairs team works proactively to:
- provide information to MPs and Peers on a variety of housing and homelessness issues;
- regularly meet and brief politicians;
- attend and hold events at the annual party conferences to raise the profile of homelessness issues.
