Preventing Poverty

65% of St Mungo's clients want to work either now, or in the future*. Our Preventing Poverty projects work with people to help them into volunteering or work placements and then on to employment.

Over the course of this two year project we aim to work with 200 clients who are homeless or facing homelessness.

Our starting point is to understand our clients' skills and strengths, as well as the barriers they face to training and employment. We provide guidance and advice, helping them to put together an action plan to overcome these barriers.

We then support our clients into work or volunteering placements so they can gain valuable experience and develop their skills. We source employment opportunities so that once clients have completed their placement, we can help them to find work within four weeks.

We know that the transition into work can be challenging. Once our clients are in work, we continue to support them so they can overcome these challenges and make that transition as smoothly as possible.

The Preventing Poverty projects are funded by London Councils and the European Social Fund. St Mungo's is working in partnership with Citizen's Trust, Paddington Development Trust and Redbridge CVS to deliver this employment and training support across London.
