The literacy team

We estimate that as many as 40% of our residents do not meet basic levels of literacy.

To tackle this issue, the literacy team at St Mungo's delivers essential skills training to residents in our hostels and at other locations around London.

We teach one-to-one or in small groups, and lessons are planned around each learner's interests and needs. Where we can, we refer people on to their local college or community learning centre.

We also deliver awareness training to staff to help them identify and communicate more effectively with those who need support with their basic skills.
