Move on Training (MOT)

Delivered by people who have themselves experienced homelessness, St Mungo's Move-on Training delivers life skills coaching to people living in hostels and supported housing.

St Mungo's MOT works with residents to develop the skills they need to manage their own accommodation, and more importantly, to build the social skills and networks that will enable them to thrive in their new home. The training is delivered in various ways including:

  • A two-day interactive course for people who are ready to set up a new home
  • One-to-one life skills coaching tailored to an individual's needs
  • One-off workshops focusing on specific skills, such as DIY, managing relationships, debt and more

St Mungo's MOT is led by peer volunteers - people who have experience of moving to a new home from our hostels. The volunteers lead the training and help build the content of the course, making it both relevant and responsive to the needs of the clients.

St Mungo's can help other organisations to set up their own MOT programme. For more information, contact with details of your training needs.

And finally - we're pleased to say we've had positive feedback from clients:

"I found the programme informative, positive and thought it alerted me to some of the pitfalls that could occur when I move on. It also made me more aware of my responsibilities to landlords and the community. In all, I thought the whole programme was educational."

"I found the course very interesting and helpful, there were things I wouldn't have even thought about, ways of claiming, bill paying, self help groups etc."
