Our substance use team

Last year, over 80% of St Mungo's clients had issues with substance use.

Our Substance Use Team works with each individual at his or her own pace, offering realistic and accessible solutions to drink and drug problems. Our services include:

  • hostel-based needle exchanges
  • auricular acupuncture
  • emergency (or hostel) accommodation
  • a move-on project for sex-working women who use crack.

We also link people into a range of treatment services, including detox and rehab, methadone scripting, advice and counselling services, alternative therapies and support groups.

This year, we opened a new Alcohol Reduction Unit This is a five-bed centre for street drinkers which aims to help them reduce their alcohol use - and therefore their impact on health and police resources.
