At St Mungo’s our priority is finding practical and safe solutions for people sleeping rough during lockdown and as winter approaches. We are working harder than ever to reverse the rise in homelessness and rough sleeping and change lives for the better.
Winter is the most dangerous time of year for people sleeping rough and it is vital that no one is left out in the cold. We have supported people to self-isolate safely, but many others need our help.
If someone is sleeping rough, our teams can help people to not just move away from the streets but also towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. We work with people around their interests and ambitions, helping them boost their skills and wellbeing, and take steps towards employment.
Jim's story
Jim left care at 17 with just £35 to his name and, without the support he needed, went on to spend many years sleeping rough.
Day by day, Jim is rebuilding his life. He now volunteers with St Mungo's outreach teams and helps other people off the streets. When asked what would have happened to him without St Mungo's, Jim has no hesitation in saying:
'I'd be dead by now. Guaranteed.'
Your support makes a vital difference to people like Jim. Help change a homeless person's life this winter.
