In 2017 we conquered Mount Snowdon. Last year we took on Scafell Pike. This year Team Mungo’s took on Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis.
To mark our 50th year 50 clients, staff members and volunteers joined staff from our sponsor Tokio Marine and succeeded in climbing the highest peak in Great Britain.
Anne-Marie lives in a St Mungo's hostel and was part of the team that climbed Ben Nevis. Anne-Marie shares her experience of the trip on our blog. You can also read about the story of Naz who joined us to climb his first ever mountain (and beat everyone to the top). Two of our support workers also tell us the importance of clients coming on the trip and why it is such a positive step in their recovery.

Living on the streets became so tough that it led to an attempted suicide. However, after visiting a local church for a shower and some food, I was introduced to St Mungo’s. They offered Skye (Mandy's dog) and myself a place in a hostel and I have lived in their accommodation ever since.
I’ve come a long way since then, which is why I had the idea to climb a mountain with other people who have experienced homelessness. I wanted to do this to show it is possible to recover from homelessness and to remember all those who aren’t as lucky as me, who have sadly died sleeping rough.
