Woolly Hat Day

#WHD18

Thank you for wanting to be part of Woolly Hat Day 2018.

Let's put our heads together on Friday 26 January to get even more homeless people off the streets.

Wear a hat, take a photo and make a donation to help change someone’s life.

It doesn’t even have to be a woolly hat: it could be a beanie, trilby or even a sun hat!

Don’t forget to Instagram, Facebook and Tweet your Woolly Hat Day pics using #WHD18.

Contact the Woolly Hat Day team by email woollyhatday@mungos.org

Or, we have other ideas for ways you can get involved below.

Schools and Youth Groups

Drawing competition

Every year students draw their own hat design and enter them into our competition.

We charge £1 per entry and the winner receives an arts and crafts set. The winning drawing will also be posted on our website and across our social media platforms.

Why don’t you ask students to bring in all their loose change to create a penny trail around the school and see how far you can get?

As everyone will be wearing their woolly hats, why not try and create a caterpillar made of hats? We would love to see your 'haterpillars', so send us your pictures using #WHD18.

Nearer the time we will be posting resources including lesson plans, ready made assemblies, promotional posters and much more!

Get your office involved

Guilty pleasure

We all have a guilty pleasure, so why not give up yours for sponsorship? You could give up your:

  • favourite piece of clothing
  • hobby
  • favourite television show
  • social media
  • alcohol
  • cigarettes
  • your phone for a day or week.

If so, you could host a games tournament, board or card game evening. If you want something more active you could hold a treasure hat hunt or scavenger hunt around your office or the local area and charge a fee to enter.

Why not host a social event for your organisation?

Try a themed party with orange cocktails and hat themed nibbles, a ball, a casino evening, a movie night or a culture evening at a museum! You can charge an entry fee and donations for refreshments.

Set up a swear jar for people to make a donation every time someone swears and the total might end up in big sums. You could even create a forfeit for the team with the most foul language!

  • Organise a hat-themed bake sale or coffee morning
  • Have a hat-themed quiz night (or day) – we can supply the quiz and answers
  • Take part in our Woolly Hat Day bucket collections: get in touch: woollyhatday@mungos.org
  • Or, if you would like to make a donation by phone, please text WOOL18 £2 to 70070.

Whatever you chose to do, the important thing is that you want to recognise Woolly Hat Day in some way. Whether you are planning a small social gathering or a full-on day of ‘hat-tivities', we are here to help.
