Ending homelessness, rebuilding lives

A doorway.

A park bench.

The streets.

None of these are safe places to sleep.

At St Mungo’s, we’re out tonight and every night to bring people in from the cold.

For people sleeping rough tonight, there's no hiding from danger.

Sam became homeless after his dad kicked him out of the house. And that was it, Sam was on his own.

When Sam was sleeping rough he had some terrible experiences. He was mocked, abused, even held at knifepoint by three attackers for what little he had.

“That first night on the streets was awful, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”

With support from a St Mungo’s frontline worker Sam was able to rebuild his life.

“They got me a bed in a hostel. That first night, going from concrete to mattress, I slept like a baby.”

“Now, I’ve got a proper home, a job, and a future. It feels surreal.”

Thousands will sleep rough tonight – but you can help make it someone’s last night on the streets.

Rough sleeping is a growing problem and, due to the cost of living crisis, many more people are at risk of homelessness. Over 10,000 people were seen sleeping rough in London alone in 2022/23, a 20% increase from last year.

They’re cold and alone – for so many of them, no one was there when things went wrong.

Our doors are open 365 days a year, offering safety, support and hope for the future
