Psychotherapy Student Placements (London)

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Life Works, St Mungo’s innovative therapy service, is offering a valuable opportunity for experienced trainee and qualified psychotherapists to take up a voluntary placement providing psychotherapy for people experiencing chronic homelessness and social exclusion.

    Given the complex nature of this work, we require applicants to already have 100 hours experience of providing individual psychotherapy and be in their second year or above of training* , and to commit to a one year placement.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • South London – 3-5 hours per week for client counselling, between Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm  and a further 1.5 hours to attend fortnightly clinical supervision sessions (time/date tbc)
    • North London – 3-5 hours per week for client counselling, between Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm  and a further 1.5 hours to attend fortnightly clinical supervision sessions on Wednesday, 4pm-5.30pm
    • Westminster – 3-5 hours per week for client counselling, between Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm  and a further 1.5 hours to attend fortnightly clinical supervision sessions (time/date tbc)
    • West London – 3-5 hours per week for client counselling, between Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm  and a further 1.5 hours to attend  fortnightly clinical supervision sessions on Wednesday, 4pm-5.30pm
    • East London – 3-5 hours per week for client counselling, between Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm  and a further 1.5 hours to attend  fortnightly clinical supervision sessions on Thursday, 1pm-2.30pm

    Trainee applicants: Please be aware that successful applications post 01/06/2022 will be guaranteed a January 2023 start date. Applicants are able to start earlier than this, however it may not coincide with term dates if part of a placement.

    Cheer Point Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us at our cheer points at the London Marathon (Sunday 2 October) and the Royal Parks Half Marathon (Sunday 9 October) this year. Your role will be to make as much noise as possible to cheer on our team of amazing runners and help keep them going on the course. Your support will make a huge difference to our runners experience and will boost their fundraising to get us one step closer to ending homelessness.

    Cooking Group Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Are you keen on cooking? If so then we may have the role for you! You will be encouraging clients to socialise as they cook, as well as collaborating with staff and clients to decide on recipes, and buy ingredients. Working in a kitchen, you will give nutritional and healthy eating information whilst running the cooking classes. Volunteers may also do meal planning with clients and budgeting for cooking.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • Lewisham – 1 hour per week between Monday-Sunday, 2pm-6pm

    • Hackney- Tuesday 12pm-2pm every two weeks
