Collection Volunteer (Bristol, Bath & Reading)

    We are looking for volunteers over various dates from the 29th September (before World Homelessness Day on the 10th October) – 19th December at locations in Bristol, Bath and Reading.

    Accommodation Peer Support Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As an Accommodation Peer Support volunteer you’ll be providing 1-2-1 support for client’s at varying stages in their recovery. This will involve developing a rapport and building trust, supporting and guiding through their recovery journey and helping to achieve short term and long term goals. You will also be supporting clients practically, including: supporting with inducting new clients, registering with a GP; liaising with benefit agencies; attending appointments and preparing individuals for move-on.

    This role would also involve you to supporting staff in the project. This can be carrying out health and safety checks; help with packing client belongings as they move out and any other general support.

    • Reading– Monday-Sunday, 4 hours, 1 day a week. * The services run 24/7 so there is flexibility within the services for when this is. To be discussed with services and volunteer.

    Art Group Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Can you help inspire our clients through art? We are looking for an experienced Art Group Volunteer who can facilitate art sessions with groups of clients. We’re seeking someone who can support and empower clients through providing them with a regular creative outlet, and enable them to pick up some skills and tips on the way! We believe that everyone has strengths, and you will need to be able to facilitate sessions in a way that is inclusive of all abilities. Working with the clients, you can design the art sessions to meet the needs of the participants and take a creative approach to how these are facilitated.

    • Lewisham – 2 hours per week on Mondays (anytime between 12pm – 6pm)
    • Reading- Wednesday afternoon’s, 3pm-4:30pm

    Gardening Group Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. We are looking for volunteers to facilitate regular gardening sessions for our clients, guided by St Mungo’s values. This will be a great opportunity to share your talent for and interest in gardening. We’re seeking someone who is open to helping clients learn at their own pace, and take pride in their achievements. You will also support in planning the gardening sessions to meet the needs of the participants and take a creative approach to how these are facilitated.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • Reading-Monday-Sunday, 2-4 hours, 1 day a fortnight.
    • Lewisham – Ideally Fridays, 2 hours (between 12-6pm), once a week (other days/times also available) 
    • Islington- Monday- Friday, 2 hours (between 9am-5pm), once a week * The service in Islington is based at a care home and therefore you will be working with older clients.

    First Response Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Are you looking for your first role in the homelessness sector? As a First Response Volunteer, you will help find those rough sleeping quicker, and enable Outreach workers to spend more time supporting those found to move away from the streets and get connected to other local services. First Responders play a crucial role to ensure people sleeping rough receive vital support. This is not a client-facing role and therefore is well suited to somebody looking for their first role in the homelessness sector. However, we do also offer development opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge about rough sleeping for those interested.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • Reading -Mondays and Fridays, between 6am-10am (1 shift per month)
    • Tower Hamlets- Mondays and/or Thursdays, 9pm-12am (1 shift per month)
    • Westminster-Monday to Sunday, 8:30pm-12am, and/or Saturday 6am-10am ( 1 shift per month)
