Trustee Volunteer (Housing)

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. In this role you will take part in the governance of St Mungo’s, ensuring that St Mungo’s activities ultimately further the interests of our beneficiaries and the future sustainability of the charity. With other committee members, you will make decisions relating to strategy and policy and monitor performance, to assist St Mungo’s Board of Trustees with ensuring that a sound system of governance exists across the charity and that it is financially viable and properly managed.

    Committee meetings take place, either in person or via video call, five times a year and last for around two hours. The Board also has a Strategy Day once a year. Occasionally you may need to visit our office near Aldgate or other sites for meetings, induction and training sessions.

    Streetlink Phone Line Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. StreetLink is a website, mobile app and telephone line that acts as a way of a connecting people who are rough sleeping to local services for support. As a Streetlink Phone Line Volunteer you will be taking calls from members of the public, including people who are sleeping rough themselves.  Through volunteering, you will learn about resources and provision available to those sleeping rough, and also play a vital role in helping to end people’s homelessness.

    • Tower Hamlets – 2 hours per week, for a minimum of six months. You can volunteer with us Monday to Sunday, between 10am and 10pm.

    First Response Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Are you looking for your first role in the homelessness sector? As a First Response Volunteer, you will help find those rough sleeping quicker, and enable Outreach workers to spend more time supporting those found to move away from the streets and get connected to other local services. First Responders play a crucial role to ensure people sleeping rough receive vital support. This is not a client-facing role and therefore is well suited to somebody looking for their first role in the homelessness sector. However, we do also offer development opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge about rough sleeping for those interested.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • Westminster– 8:30pm-12am, Monday-Sunday and/or 6am-10am on Saturday (1 shift per month)
    • Tower Hamlets- 9pm – 12am,  Mondays and/or Thursdays (1 shift per month)

    Outreach Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As an Outreach Volunteer you will be assisting Outreach Workers to carry out shifts, adding vital capacity to the team, and enabling us to engage with more rough sleepers who have been referred both via StreetLink and those already known to the team. Our Outreach Volunteers work with the Outreach Worker and support with navigation, client assessments and note taking.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

     

    • Bournemouth & Poole-Monday-Friday, 6am-10am (1-2 shifts per week)
    • Tower Hamlets-  Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays 5am – 8:30am, Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays 9pm – 1am (1 shift per fortnight)
    • Westminster- Monday-Sunday, 6am – 9am and/or 8.30pm-12.00am (minimum 1 shift per month)
    • Southwark – We’re sorry, this position is no longer available.
