How we have helped

How we have helped-national effort to support thousands off the streetsThroughout the crisis, we have been coordinating an emergency response to support people sleeping rough.

We have been part of a national effort to support thousands off the streets.

Thousands have been helped into empty hotels and other emergency accommodation.

This has not only protected vulnerable people from the virus, but could be the first step in their journey away from the streets.

Last month, the government announced an additional £105 million to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness into homes of their own.

The coronavirus crisis prompted a national effort to help people sleeping rough off the streets and into hotels. But the hotels were only booked for 3 months and we feared that they would soon close.

That’s why we launched our No Going Back campaign to call on the government to ensure that no one would be forced back on to the streets.

It was a success! Last month, the government announced an additional £105 million to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness into homes of their own.

This will provide much needed breathing space. We look forward to continuing our work with partners to ensure people in hotels are supported to recover from homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who supported our No Going Back campaign and helped St Mungo’s seize this unprecedented opportunity.
