Take the lead for St Mungo’s

image: Justin and his dog gunner At St Mungo’s, we know that dogs can provide powerful emotional support and companionship. They’re more than a pet – a dog is part of the family.

We are one of the only homelessness charities to accept dogs in our hostels. We don’t want anyone experiencing homelessness to be forced to choose between their companion and safe shelter.

That’s why we are inviting dog lovers to take part in our Take the Lead challenge. Team up with your dog and pledge to walk a marathon (26.2 miles) over the month of August to raise vital funds for St Mungo’s.

You and your dog could walk one mile a day for 26 days – that’s about 15 minutes a day. Or two miles a day over 13 days – that’s 30 minutes every other day. It’s up to you how you make those walkies count.

They’d phone me up saying there was a room available, but they don’t take animals. I’d say: There’s no point in offering me, I’m not going to get rid of my dog. He’s my best friend. – Justin

Meet our furry supporters

We have lots of fabulous supporters who have already pledged to take part and help end homelessness.

Meet Pomegranate. A rescue pup who has already eagerly signed up for Take the Lead. Pomegranate can’t wait to get some steps in.
