In response to the Government’s new Social Housing Regulation Bill, due to be introduced to Parliament today (8 June 2022), which will provide a range of measures designed to ensure that tenants of social housing providers have more rights, St Mungo’s Executive Director of Housing Services Alison Muir said: “We welcome new powers being given to the regulator to ensure that housing is good quality, safe and appropriate.

“We know from working with our clients the vital role that housing plays in offering a new start and bedrock for accessing further support. It is so much more than just a roof over a someone’s head, it is a home.

“This Bill will raise the bar across the entire sector and empower residents to access the good quality homes they deserve.”
