First Open: Post War and Contemporary Art Online is an upcoming auction being run by Christie’s, with proceeds from twelve selected pieces going to St Mungo’s homelessness charity, to mark their 50th anniversary. The auction will go live on Tuesday 14 July and will run for two weeks, until 28 July.

The auction will feature work that has generously been donated from celebrated artists around the world, including an exciting selection of affordable pieces by leading artists of the 20th and 21st centuries such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Phyllida Barlow, Antony Gormley and The Connor Brothers.

James Golding and Mike Snelle of The Connor Brothers said: “We’re delighted to be able to support St Mungo’s essential work. It’s easier to forget during challenging periods, when our focus is elsewhere, that many thousands of people in the UK are homeless and without basic living necessities. St Mungo’s continue to support the homeless tirelessly and we are grateful to them for doing so.”

Isabel Millar, Head of Sales, Christie’s said: “We are thrilled that St Mungo’s is part of our First Open Post-War and Contemporary Edition, and to have received fantastic pieces from a wide range of prolific artists. All donations will go towards to the much needed work of the charity, particularly during the COVID pandemic.”

Reta Robinson, Head of Fundraising, St Mungo’s said: “We are extremely grateful and pleased to be working with Christie’s and all the artists involved. We have had a preview of the paintings and they are fabulous. Our thanks to all the artists taking part. Last year marked our 50th anniversary of helping people and we would not be able to achieve what we do without the people who give their time, enthusiasm and energy so freely and share our vision to end homelessness and rebuild lives.”
