St Mungo’s announces new partnership with Barratt Developments

New partnership to help provide housing for people at risk of homelessness.

The country’s biggest housebuilder Barratt Developments has launched a new partnership with St Mungo’s, beginning with a £60,000 donation to St Mungo’s social lettings service Real Lettings.

The partnership will ensure that funding for two Housing Management and Lettings Officers is secured for one year.

These officers will aim to help 50 families and individuals at risk of homelessness move into properties that they can call home.

Howard Sinclair, Chief Executive of St Mungo’s, said:

“Barratt Developments has been an ally of St Mungo’s for years and we are extremely pleased to have this new formalised partnership in place, which is going to have an immediate impact.

“Real Lettings is a service that provides families and people at crisis point with a place that can become a more stable home.

“The support of Barratt Developments will help Real Lettings continue to provide crucial services when people need them.

“In addition, St Mungo’s will work closely with Barratt Developments on new ways to support people long term into a home of their own.”

David Thomas, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments, said:

“We want to lead the industry not just in the quality of the homes and developments we build but also in our work with charities and good causes. St Mungo’s does a brilliant job helping rebuild people’s lives through housing.

“We’re proud to fund two housing and lettings officers who will work across the London area where the need is greatest.

“Their Real Lettings service has already helped rehouse hundreds of people and we hope this partnership will help many more people find a place that they can call home.”

Set up in 2005, Real Lettings has helped hundreds of families and individuals move into more stable accommodation and find longer term and secure homes.

Real Lettings offers advice and guidance around a number of areas such as housing options, employment and tenancy sustainment, allowing people to work towards moving on.

For many St Mungo’s clients, Real Lettings continues to be their only access to affordable private sector accommodation.
