St Mungo’s has achieved Gold level accreditation by Investors in People assessors.

The Investors in People accreditation is known worldwide as a benchmark of being a good employer. IIP has a presence in 58 countries in the world spanning 29% of the globe.

This is a step up from the charity’s previous IIP Silver accreditation, and means St Mungo’s is one of the 16% of accredited organisations to currently hold a Gold. And one of the 3% of Housing Associations to have achieved this standard.

Howard Sinclair, Chief Executive of St Mungo’s, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent assessment against this prestigious standard.

“We’ve held Silver level since 2015 and so it’s a real testament to everyone that we’ve moved forward and reached Gold.”

As part of this assessment, all staff were invited to take part in an online survey, and a total of 527 people submitted responses.

In addition, the assessor met with over 60 staff individually, who he randomly and anonymously selected from our overall staff groups. The assessor attended a Staff Advisory Group meeting and met with our Unite convener.

In summary, the assessor praised the progress that St Mungo’s has made over the past five years, highlighting the clear vision and purpose for the organisation, underpinned by a well-defined strategic plan, a continued commitment to investing in the skills development of all staff, and the proactive approach towards embedding diversity and inclusion.

Howard Sinclair added: “We will be looking in depth at the full report and recommendations from IIP and talking with staff to agree an Action Plan. After Gold is the highest level, Platinum, and we want to continue listening and improving to reach that if we can.

“But meanwhile, thank you, once again, to everyone who gave their time and their views in this process and helped us achieve this excellent accreditation.”
