St Mungo’s Chief Executive Steve Douglas CBE said: “We welcome the Prime Minister’s focus on rough sleeping which he reaffirmed in his announcement this evening. And with the targeted £15m ‘Protect Programme’ to help the most vulnerable in society detailed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
“It is vital that everyone who is on the streets, or who is at risk of rough sleeping, can access self-contained accommodation immediately, with adequate support where it is needed.
“St Mungo’s will continue to offer support to our local authority partners and alongside other homeless charities will work to find practical and safe options for people as the cold weather sets in.”
