St Mungo’s response to the Work and Pensions Select Committee’s enquiry into benefit sanctions

In this response, St Mungo’s comments on the government’s current policies of conditionality and sanctions in the welfare system.

St Mungo’s believes that the current sanctions regime does not work effectively for people who are homeless. It is vital that a history of homelessness is taken into account before sanctions are imposed, and that the sanctions regime as a whole becomes more consistent, fair and appropriate.
