Helen Giles

Executive Director of People and Governance

Helen has worked in the homelessness sector for over thirty years, starting out as an administrator and Company Secretary at Housing Services Agency (HSA) in the 1980s and then developing her qualifications and career in human resources management at HSA and Broadway Homelessness and Support. Through St Mungo’s Real People HR consultancy, which Helen set up in 2005, she has carried out a wide range of consultancy and training briefs for organisations across sectors. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and has had many articles published in HR and broader press. Helen is a former Personnel Today HR Director of the Year and has been awarded the MBE for services to homeless people. In 2015 she was listed as one of HR magazine’s Ten Most Influential HR Practitioners of the Decade.
