“Looking back over my career, and the various roles I’ve been fortunate to hold, the ever present theme has been a desire to help those who are most vulnerable in our society.
Since my first job as a Nursing Assistant in the late 70s, I’ve worked in a variety of roles in health, housing and social care. It is my work in the voluntary sector – as Director of Mencap Cymru, Chief Executive at Broadway Homelessness and Support and as Chief Executive for St Mungo’s since 2014 – that stand out for me personally.
I’ve now been a Chief Executive or Director for 19 years – 15 of which have been in the homelessness sector – and I’m proud of the part I’ve played in changing people’s lives over the years. But more than that, I’ve felt honoured to work with and learn from so many inspiring people along the way.
I’ve learnt a lot during this time, but perhaps the most important lesson has been that homelessness and deprivation are not inevitable, and together we can make a difference in so many people’s lives.”
