You will support with the day to day running of the outreach service from their hub building on reception, interacting with our clients and providing admin and practical support to our staff.

    Creative Activities Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Can you help inspire our clients to get creative? We are looking for a crafty person who can facilitate creative sessions with our clients. We’re seeking someone who can support and empower clients through providing them with a regular creative outlet, and enable them to pick up some skills and tips on the way!

    We believe that everyone has strengths, and you will need to be able to facilitate sessions in a way that is inclusive of all abilities. Working with the clients, you can design the creative sessions to meet the needs of the participants and take an innovative approach to how these are facilitated.

    Accommodation Peer Support Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As an Accommodation Peer Support volunteer you’ll be providing 1-2-1 support for client’s at varying stages in their recovery. This will involve developing a rapport and building trust, supporting and guiding through their recovery journey and helping to achieve short term and long term goals. You will also be supporting clients practically, including: supporting with inducting new clients, registering with a GP; liaising with benefit agencies; attending appointments and preparing individuals for move-on.

    This role would also involve you to supporting staff in the project. This can be carrying out health and safety checks; help with packing client belongings as they move out and any other general support.

    • Reading– Monday-Sunday, 4 hours, 1 day a week. * The services run 24/7 so there is flexibility within the services for when this is. To be discussed with services and volunteer.

    Our Wellbeing Group Volunteer- ACE Services

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Group Volunteer you will be working alongside St Mungo’s staff to facilitate group sessions with clients experiencing Mental Health issues and Substance Use (dual diagnosis) within the Compass Centre. We are looking for someone with good communication skills. Tasks will include: Helping staff to provide a safe and calm space for the members, set up / preparation of kitchen, promoting community ties and friendly relationships for attendees, helping staff to clear away after the group, participating in weekly pre-brief and de-brief check ins with staff before and after group time. A level 2 food hygiene certificate will be required for this role which St Mungo’s will organise and fund.

    Cooking Group Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Are you keen on cooking? If so then we may have the role for you! As a Cooking Group Volunteer you will be encouraging clients to socialise as they cook, as well as collaborating with staff and clients to decide on recipes, and buy ingredients. Working in a kitchen, you will give nutritional and healthy eating information whilst running the cooking classes. Volunteers may also do meal planning with clients and budgeting for cooking. Please note that a food hygiene certificate is required for this role.

    • Hackney- Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, 4 hours per week * This service is women only, and therefore we are only accepting volunteer applications from women or those who are female identifying.

Working with the clients, you can design the art sessions to meet the needs of the participants and take a creative approach to how these are facilitated.

    • Lewisham – 2 hours per week on Mondays (anytime between 12pm – 6pm)
    • Reading- Wednesday afternoon’s, 3pm-4:30pm
