Press Volunteer

Our Policy & Communications team are looking for a volunteer to work flexibly to increase St. Mungo’s brand awareness as well as awareness of our work by producing press releases and assisting with other ad hoc tasks. Other tasks you will be supporting on include, producing well-written, informative and inspiring press releases, contacting our clients and volunteers to get their stories and liaising with external partners such as local newspapers.

    Communications Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Communications volunteer you will be supporting our Policy & Communications team with a range of tasks. This will include, re-organising our communications shared files creating a photo and design asset library on SharePoint, organising the team’s case studies and received consent forms in a GDPR-compliant way and managing our communications mailbox by triaging requests and directing or replying as necessary.

    Fundraising Assistant Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Fundraising Assistant you will be volunteering in our Fundraising team, who are responsible for raising income to help fund our vital services. You will be based in the Events, Community and Regional (ECR) team, primarily aiding the Fundraising Coordinators based in Bristol and Reading. You will be providing events, communication and administrative support to ensure we provide and outstanding experience for our supported and maximize income. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested beginning a career in fundraising or events. The placement will give you experience in key elements of a fundraising role, such as running an event, managing income streams, project work and stewardship.

    Language Translation Volunteer (Somali)

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Do you speak Somali? Would you like to provide vital support to vulnerable adults who need help translating important documents? As a Language Translation Volunteer, you will be providing an extremely valuable service to our clients and staff; helping to translate important documents to increase the accessibility of our resources, as well as providing – if you are available when asked, language translation support via the phone for clients for whom English is not their first language. You will be helping people who have experienced homelessness, who may be experiencing addiction, mental health issues, physical or mental disabilities or who may be refugees, asylum seekers or have no recourse to public funds.

    In this role, you will be:

    • Supporting us remotely (alongside other volunteers) to translate our Tenancy and Client Engagement Surveys into as many languages as possible to ensure our clients can read and understand it before answering
    • Forming a ‘Language Volunteer Bank’ to provide ad hoc support for those who need it the most, usually via the phone

    StreetLink London Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Streetlink London Volunteer, you will be directly supporting people sleeping rough away from the streets, by handling alerts and signposting people to other appropriate services. Please be aware that whilst we do support people who are homeless over the phone, the service does not work face to face with clients.

    Fusion Project Support Volunteer

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Project Support Volunteer you will make a difference by supporting clients to engage with us in various ways. In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks: Supporting on reception by meeting and greeting clients and visitors, handling client and visitor queries, recording information as well as taking and redirecting calls and relaying messages. You will also help in our cafe where you will be serving free drinks and snacks to our clients while creating a friendly and safe environment for them to get engaged with the organisation and even make friends and develop life skills. This role will also involve providing additional support by guiding clients through the building when necessary, signposting them to the relevant team and participating in activities such as playing pool and arts and crafts.
