Outreach Volunteer (Language Support Needed)

    It’s fantastic that you’d like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s.  Can you speak: Romanian; Italian; Spanish; Polish; Slovakian; Romani; French or Arabic and want to support our team on the front line making first contact with people who are rough sleeping? As an Outreach Volunteer you will be assisting Outreach Workers to carry out shifts, adding vital capacity to the team, and enabling us to engage with more rough sleepers who have been referred both via StreetLink and those already known to the team.

    Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

    • Bristol – 1 shift per week between 6am – 11am, any weekday, or 1 shift per weekend between 7am-11am. You can  also make a fortnightly commitment to this if you can’t commit to weekly session (Involves a lot of walking, must be able to speak: Romanian; Italian; Spanish; Polish; Slovakian; Romani; French or Arabic)

    Outreach Peer Support Volunteer

    As an Outreach Peer Support Volunteer you will be welcoming and signposting potential clients, current clients and visitors of St Mungo’s at the Dellow Centre. You will also be assisting the Outreach team to carry out shifts and look for referrals. You will gain experience of engaging with rough sleepers and, using your own lived experience, will build trust and rapport with them to empower them to achieve their personal recovery goals.

    Our peer roles are for people who have lived experience of using support services. This could be through personal experience of homelessness (sleeping rough/living in a hostel/refuge or other supported accommodation), mental health, substance use or custody.

    • Tower Hamlets – 4 hours per week, specific timings will vary depending on the needs of the team and volunteer’s availability. Please note the role will include going on Outreach shifts either early in the morning (6am – 10am) or late at night (9pm – 1am)

    Outreach Volunteer

Our Outreach Volunteers work with the Outreach Worker and support with navigation, client assessments and note taking.

    • Southwark- Sunday evenings 8pm-2am , and 1-2 days per week Monday-Friday 6am-10am  (We particularly welcome applications from the Eritrean or Somalian community)
