WoodWorks
WoodWorks is a wood workshop offers exciting opportunities for St Mungo's clients who are unemployed to attend up to six months training and work experience in a commercial production setting.
Men and women of all abilities become part of the workshop team, learning the skills involved in producing a range of quality pine furniture and wooden items.
Expert supervision and tuition is provided in a friendly, supportive working environment. Trainees learn new practical skills as well as focusing on key areas like keeping to a routine, team working and self motivation.
The emphasis is on fun (within the bounds of health and safety), and trainees find the challenge of learning and working with others a truly empowering, rewarding and confidence-building experience.
We furnish St Mungo's hostels and other projects with the high-quality furniture we produce, or sell it to other organisations or private individuals. Sales help to fund the Workshop, rewarding the trainees for their commitment and adding to their sense of fulfilment and self-worth.
