Press and Media

Please contact us to arrange interviews with spokespeople and, where possible, our clients.

We can give expert commentary on rough sleeping and homelessness issues, real life stories and news from our services and the sector.

To get in touch with our PR team, please contact pressoffice@mungos.org

Please note that this inbox only responds to broadcast, online, and print press enquiries on any of the below:

  • Expert commentary on rough sleeping and homelessness issues
  • Stories from people with experience of homelessness
  • Potential press visits to our homelessness services
  • Wider news from St Mungo’s and its services
  • Advice on portraying homelessness accurately and sensitively in media, including films, TV, and literature

If you or someone you know is worried about homelessness, the first thing to do is to contact the local council. They have a duty to help people experiencing homelessness.

To do this, contact your local authority’s Housing Options team. Depending on your circumstances, they could help you with emergency accommodation; this includes a place in a shelter, or hostel, or longer-term accommodation, such as independent living or social housing.

If possible, you should approach the council that you, or the person you’re helping, has a local connection to, usually in the area you’ve most recently lived. Go to www.gov.uk/find-local-council to find out who you need to contact.

If you or someone else is sleeping on the streets, use StreetLink to make a referral to a local rough sleeping Outreach Team. StreetLink is a national rough sleeper referral site and app, which St Mungo’s help to run in London.  Visit www.thestreetlink.org.uk
