During the extreme cold weather our outreach teams in London (Westminster, Southwark and Ealing) and the South (Bristol and Reading) are out supporting individuals into emergency shelter provision, engaging even more with rough sleepers and those in need, and tracking down new referrals.
Our teams work with local boroughs on what is called SWEP provision (Severe Weather Emergency Protocols).
Update on cold weather support
Very many thanks to everyone who has emailed us at streetconcern@mungos.org worried about someone potentially sleeping rough in this freezing weather. Your support and compassion are amazing.
We are passing on referrals to our outreach teams and others across London, and beyond.
In this cold weather, outreach teams are particularly concerned about people bedded down to sleep out overnight. While it is helpful to have details of people out on the streets during the day, the priority is supporting people into emergency accommodation overnight.
If you do see anyone who you think is set to actually sleep on the streets, then please:
However, if you are extremely concerned about someone's health, please do ring 999 if it's an emergency situation.
