A Sun newspaper story today (1 February) refers to St Mungo’s in relation to an investigation about falsification of work documents in an agency called Reliable Care.
Our priority is as always to ensure the health and safety of our vulnerable clients. Once we were made aware of the specifics of the allegations this morning we conducted an investigation. We are no longer confident that Reliable Care is complying with the law or our requirements and we have suspended them as an agency.
Reliable Care was one of a number of agencies that St Mungo’s has used to source agency staff. All St Mungo’s agencies are required to ensure that their workers have the right to work in the UK and confirm that they have checked this for each worker.
St Mungo’s takes its responsibilities very seriously and has strong protocols in place. All agencies that work with St Mungo’s are required to sign up and agree to these protocols.
